Training Systems

There are two main types of training that most businesses need to consider, either company specific employee inductions, or formally recognised skills training.

As you may already know within Australia the development of nationally recognised training material occurs within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and the compliance requirements of the client Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

What you may not know is the extent of the AQF and the VET sector. Which, when you include all of the different RTO types, enables students to gain qualifications through training courses designed to deliver workplace-specific skills and knowledge. These training courses cover wide-ranging career requirements including trade, administration, retail, hospitality and technology skills all contained within hundreds of accredited courses and thousands of related course units and modules.

However, businesses also have situations where there may not be a requirement for a nationally recognised qualification, e.g. employee inductions, company or site-specific procedures and personal, team or cultural development.

Induction Training

Induction training is an introduction for either an employee new to a business or for an employee starting a new role within their current company. Induction training enables them to work safely and effectively in their new situation, which is, in addition to the skills the position requires, as equally crucial to the long-term safety, well-being and future of that employee.

This type of training should include:

  • An ‘onboarding’ process for the new employee:
    • Which should at a minimum consist of maps detailing; their workstation, toilets, meeting and break rooms, emergency exits and safety appliances
  • Contact details:
    • New email address, emergency phone numbers, external call dial out and numbers for their immediate supervisor and above
  • Business organisation chart and line reporting

Skills Training

The challenge for today’s organisations is how best to develop the capability within their workforce that will allow them to innovate, stay ahead of the curve and align the vision, goals and performance of the individuals and groups within that organisation.

New economic conditions and technological breakthroughs are combining in unexpected ways to disrupt stable industries, create new business opportunities and the way we work, live, and play is changing just as quickly as the world around us.

Skills training lies within the human resources discipline and seeks to improve the performance of your teams or individuals through increasing knowledge and refining skills. Industry skills training is now often referred to as Learning and Development (L & D) which includes these main activities:

  • Training - focusses on the current job an individual holds
  • Education - targets the future role either the company or the individual wants
  • Development - concentrates on potential future activities within a role

Training and development options available for organisations include on-the-job training, mentoring, apprenticeship, simulation, web-based learning, instructor-led classroom training, programmed self-instruction and case studies or role-playing.

Training is crucial for organisational development and the success of both employers and employees within an organisation.

What we do...

TWC believes our business is all about supporting you, your team and your business, as such, we have qualified Cert IV Trainer / Assessors uniquely experienced across many industries in developing training material at a level relevant to the literacy and numeracy skills of your audience.

Not only are we able to write and develop customised material for internal company-specific training, but by working closely with our client's international and Australian trade certified and industry experienced subject matter experts, we can also develop and customise learning, assessment, and mapping guides for all of your nationally recognised training requirements.

Quite often in a lot of small organisations, training responsibilities rest with one person, who usually is already busy with their normal function, what happens when that person is not available due to illness or holidays. Conversely, in larger organisations, training responsibilities are often shared between an entire team of trainers with each trainer doing only a portion of the overall training, how do you ensure consistency across all of the training material you provide.

Whether you are a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or not, TWC has the experience you need to support and backup your people in developing your training material. We can help you, and your team, prepare all of your training material, we can assist your training team with compliance audit preparations, and we can undertake post-audit remediation and updates, in short, we can help you no matter what your training needs are...
